Update #7 for this week - 07 Apr 2025

Update #7 of the week. @everyone Run your launchers.

Gunz:

  • Added /dmgsize <fontsize> command.

  • Added /bounce command to toggle bouncy damage numbers.

  • Altered colours of damage numbers slightly to increase legibility further.

  • Further tweaks to spread — we're on the right track here.

  • Character silhouettes (outlines) do not render unless you are in-game now.

New female Avatars and greatly improved stability - 06 Apr 2025

Gunz:

  • Improved stability greatly. At least 2 of the 3 known stability issues are fixed.

    • This means that maps that you previously crashed on-load will work fine now.

  • Executable is now LAA (Large Address Aware). Which means we can use >2GB of memory if needed.

    • Some maps, like the custom Duel map "Haven" use very high resolution lightmaps. Us previously being limited to 2GB of memory would cause loading these maps to crash.

  • Because I set a feature freeze until stability issues were addressed (meaning no new features until things are stable), I quickly increased the font slightly on damage numbers and gave them a quick hard-coded colour coating for the various ranges.

    • 8->32 = Lighter Blue

    • 38->64 = Yellow

    • 72->88 = Green

    • 96 = Red

  • Launcher player count now shows correctly.


Content:

  • Added 10 new female avatars to the shop.

  • Reduced bounty on existing avatars by 50%.

Small update - 05 Apr 2025

  • Outline thickness now  very subtly scales with distance, at a cap of 5 at 5000 units (roughly 2/3 of Battle Arena distance).
  • Adjusted spread for a quick play-test.
  • Damage number font legibility has been increased substantially.
  • Fixed a long-time bug that caused any press of the UP arrow key to cycle last-sent chat, even when chat was not open.
  • Fixed integer underflow on ping display.

April Update 3 - 04 Apr 2025

- Removed player outlines from your own character

- Improved rendered crosshairs

- Slight adjustments to Shotgun spread with the goal of reducing the variation of damage. 

  - If two people are standing still and one shoots the other without moving 20 times, the goal is to have only 3 unique damaging hits. e.g 32, 40, 48. In the testing done, this change gets us **very** close to this. If it proves to be not the play, it will get reverted and another solution which is already ready will be implemented. 

  - Spread changes are incredibly important to get right, so feedback is more than welcome. The end goal, which we will arrive at, is a world where potshotting is almost always not worth the ammo while also providing VERY consistent damage at close to mid range.
