Quick update - 23 Apr 2025

Gunz:

  • Changed how custom hitsounds work.

    • To enable the use of a custom hitsound use command /hitsound

    • To set a hitsound, place a .wav file inside of CUSTOM/, then use the /hitsoundfile filename.wav command.

  • Moved input (mouse and keyboard) to its own thread.

    • This is part of a larger effort to bring input handling up to part with industry standards.

    • For me, this enables use of up to 4,000 hz mice without frame drops, but it may vary for you.

  • Added /queue 1,2,3 or 4 command so you're able to join/leave the ranked queue for a specific queue from anywhere.

  • Slight network adjustments to reduce congestion.

  • Fixed previous issue where hitsounds were sharper/louder than intended.

Static spread - 17 Apr 2025

— Static spread.
• Spread is a hot topic. The original game's spread was extremely RNG to the point where the better player didn't always win a considerable amount of the time.
• While changing spread frequently is not ideal, I've been listening to feedback from players and also playing myself. It was clear that we weren't quite there yet.
• This spread is completely static. There is no guaranteed bullet at the center.
• If player feedback is very much against this, it will be reverted.
• The reason for rapid iteration on spread is due its importance to the game overall, but also so that we can find what works best for us.
 • Once we've found that, it frees me up to focus much more on the UI revamps.

Quick QoL Update - 13 Apr 2025

Gunz:

  • Added round timer to ranked.

  • Female yoyo option has been added in extra settings (requires restart of game).

  • Loading time increase by 500% (on my machine) || (This caused issues with Archetype. I will fix these and this will be in the next update.)

  • Added chat messages informing you how much damage each player did to you this life. Runs when you die.

⚠️ This update does not contain the damage breakdown UI component that I showed images of in lobby. That will be coming either tomorrow or the day after.

Update #9 of the week - 10 Apr 2025

Gunz 💥

  • 🔄 Adjusted spread to use the median damage of simulated shots, rather than the average.
    This has been tested quite a bit. Averaging can be ruined by outliers, so we've moved to median.

  • 🔢 Implemented @NirDine's damage number redesign.

  • 🛠️ Misc. stability improvements.

  • 💉 Med kit changes:

    • Clip size: 5 ➜ 3

    • Healing each: 20 ➜ 32
      Quality GunZ did this back in the day and it was a change players really embraced. We're testing it here.

  • 🔧 Fixed shotgun bullet markers not appearing.

  • 💥 Fixed blocked shotgun shots causing a particle onslaught.

  • 🗺️ Added new Dock map to Duel.

  • 🍱 Removed food meds and added them as grenade skins.

  • 👚 Added (Female) Clan Master Coat + 2 variants to bounty shop.
